परों को खोल ज़माना उड़ान देखता है
 ज़मीं पे बैठ के क्या आसमान देखता है
मिला है हुस्न तो इस हुस्न की हिफ़ाज़त कर
 सँभल के चल तुझे सारा जहान देखता है
कनीज़ हो कोई या कोई शाहज़ादी हो 
जो इश्क़ करता है कब ख़ानदान देखता है
घटाएँ उठती हैं बरसात होने लगती है
 जब आँख भर के फ़लक को किसान देखता है
यही वो शहर जो मेरे लबों से बोलता था
 यही वो शहर जो मेरी ज़बान देखता है
मैं जब मकान के बाहर क़दम निकालता हूँ 
अजब निगाह से मुझ को मकान देखता है

 खूबसूरत शायरी 

अपना ग़म लेके कहीं और न जाया जाए
 घर में बिखरी हुई चीज़ों को सजाया जाए

जिन चराग़ों को हवाओं का कोई ख़ौफ़ नहीं 
उन चराग़ों को हवाओं से बचाया जाए

ख़ुदकुशी करने की हिम्मत नहीं होती सबमें 
और कुछ दिन अभी औरों को सताया जाए

बाग़ में जाने के आदाब हुआ करते हैं
 किसी तितली को न फूलों से उड़ाया जाए

क्या हुआ शहर को कुछ भी तो दिखाई दे 
कहीं यूँ किया जाए कभी ख़ुद को रुलाया जाए

घर से मस्जिद है बहुत दूर चलो यूँ कर लें 
किसी रोते हुए बच्चे को हँसाया जाए

कुछ तो हम ख़ुद भी नहीं चाहते शोहरत अपनी 
और कुछ लोग भी ऐसा नहीं होने देते 
आज भी गाँव में कुछ कच्चे मकानों वाले 
घर में हम-साए के फ़ाक़ा नहीं होने देते 
मुझ को थकने नहीं देता ये ज़रूरत का पहाड़ 
मेरे बच्चे मुझे बूढ़ा नहीं होने देते

नरमी ज़रा नहीं है तुम्हारे स्वभाव में 
हालात फिर बिगाड़ लिये ताव-ताव में
ये ज़िन्दगी की जंग भला कैसे छोड़ दूँ
 कहता है डॉक्टर कि न रहिए तनाव में
सम्पन्नता का ज़िक्र भी देता है दुख उसे 
जीवन कटा है उसका निरन्तर अभाव में
